Default Driver Side Crankshaft Position Sensor

Hello All,

I'm trying to replace my driver side or left side crankshaft position sensor. Does anyone have a writeup they can direct me to or tutorial on how to replace this sensor?? I've been looking all over the internet and can't seem to find anything..closest I've gotten has been some front end images of the motor that outline the vague location. Thanks a lot!

If you look at the photos in the link you can see the stuff you need to remove to get to the sensor.

he said crankshaft position sensor (which there is only one of), not camshaft position sensor, so which is it?

Yeah I know he said crank an not cam but the way he described it I figured that's what he meant. The crank should be on the bottom to left ( drivers side ) of the crank pulley though.

i admit i too read it as a cam sensor, as he said driver's side. there is only one crank sensor, which is at the very bottom of the motor. it looks like you do not have to remove the timing belt or covers to get to it.

the link sha4000 posted shows where it is.

sensor is on the right-most side of the picture with the wire harness coming off it.

In the picture, the top of the crank position sensor seems to tilt to the back of the hole where it sits. Is this a normal position? (The top of the sensor does not sit at the middle of the hole).

I don't know what you are talking about and would need a better explanation. But as far as how it looks in the photo there is a parallax error in how it looks located (an optical illusion), the reluctor wheel on the crankshaft snout will be pretty much centered on the center line of the sensor, and the angle of the sensor is just for location and ease of installation the center line of its hole would intersect with the centerline of the crankshaft. And actually the engineers could have located it any place and adjusted the proper timing by reluctor key placement.

If you are talking about the angle effect of the bracket the sensor is in, that is just how the casting is in that area and not the placement of the sensor. Again an optical illusion. Sensor hole would be square to the crankshaft center.

Personally I don't see a problem reviving a post. It seems when ever a question is asked some one usually links to the old post anyway. If the old posts are no good then they should just be deleted.

and in my old brain I was agreeing with you.... there was no clear cut question or answer. and the photos
did not clear anything up..

The sensor is located on the driver side under the crank pulley. If you take off the engine under cover, the sensor is right there and easy to R&R with just one 10mm bolt.
