Default Does my '94 LS have a factory alarm?

Hi Guys,

n00b here with a '94 LS. I've noticed the keyfob gives me keyless entry, but I don't hear a beep/horn, nor do I see a "Security" LED as was common for Toyotas of this period. Did this era of LS come with a factory alarm? Or was it optional? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Stereorob- thanks for the reply. Is it just a single short keyfob press to lock doors and actvate alarm? Should I hear an electronic beep or horn for confirmation of alarm activation?

My 91 has it. Roll the window down, lock the doors. Then reach in and unlock the manually. The horn shouldsound and the lights should flash.

Another thing to try. From inside the car pull the trunk open lever. Leave the car and click the remote to lock the doors. Then lift open the trunk. If it has an alarm it will sound the horn like crazy. I get caught with this occasionally when I bring groceries from my trunk.

Thanks, guys. How would I go about deactivating the alarm once it's set off?

Just to reiterate, I own a 94 and YES it has an alarm that actually goes off. It has gone off a few times and if I real correctly you need to put the key in the ignition to disable it. The one button locks and unlocks the door. I also have the "security" blinky light.

To turn it off you should be locking/unlocking the door with the key. I'm not sure about the remote though. Mine is broken and I'm not gonna spend hundreds of dollars for a new key.

Default Well, I'm an idiot...

Turns out the beeping is just a whole lot quieter on this car vs. my LX. It's there if you listen for it, though.

Can someone tell me:

1. Where is the security LED inside the car?

2. Detailed instructions on how to disable the alarm once it goes off? (In my LX, I have to put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off 3x in a row).
