Lol so ur sporting 14 yr old factory wiring...first issue in my head....and all your integration tools take no time at all...I'm a certified master installer(don't feel the need to show out credentials like some obviously do)....running a few wires and adapters you still getting ripped....sad part is people with to much money....example....will over pay for services when the rest of us McDonald's employees apparently lol thought that was cute....don't pay retail for everything......ur installer make 15 buck n our at best buy at best....you got over charged...but obviously 125 bucks is nothing to you so more power to ya....I'll keep my money use my knowledge and put it back into my ride

That would be the business your paying not the installer....common sense man you can't win on this one with statistics lol....best buy master certified installer makes only 15 n hr....The prices you pay are based on industry averages not the actual time it takes to do the work.....just like a mechanic....and the number you just quoted is close to the standard hourly rate for a cheap mechanic...simply put my point was if you can do it yourself with decent diy info why spend the money?

That price he paid seems average for ALL the shops I checked in the NYC area. Craigslist were somewhat cheaper. You can get it cheaper so congrats. After I watched the guy install mine I definitely felt I could have done it myself. We all want to save money or else most of us would not be posting in this forum but lots of time we pay for convenience. I was too busy basically taking my car apart and and just wanted it done so I could move on to other repairs. I.E. taking the sunroof out of the car, shocks/springs, ball joints, strut rod bushings, removing the bumper to fix some damage, engine mounts, tranny mount, oil pan leak, flushing cooling system and I'm still waiting to do Timing belt as well as crank/cam seals.

To be honest you lucked out going to best buy that you didn't get a kid that has now clue what he's doing....The only knowledge required to be an installer there is really car alarms...remote starts....and basic head unit wiring that's it...

I interviewed the Best Buy installer before I bought the Kenwood as if he was applying for a tech job - I've read/skimmed many hundreds of resumes and have done quite a lot of interviewing and hiring (and some firing) so it is pretty hard for someone to "B.S." me.

It really blew me away that the guy was an installer at Best Buy. He spoke like he had an engineering backgound and I wondered if he had been laid off from a high tech job as many people have been around here. It didn't hurt that he spent a few minutes enthusiastically telling me about the audio system modifications he had made to his LS430 ... and that we spoke the same "language" to the extent that we were almost finishing each other sentenses while discussing how to configure the Kenwood.

So ... if any of you live in the Kansas City metro area and are looking for an incredible installer, see if "Brad M" is still working at the Best Buy store on Quivira Road in Lenexa, Kansas.

And, no, I don't want to be crawling under a car's dashboard at an age by which most guys have retired.
