Default Lexus gave me a new( To me ) ECU

My old ecu was swapped out for an updated re-manufactured ecu under an old recall service campaign. I would constantly get the P0715 code telling me my vehicle speed sensor on the transmission was malfunctioning. I knew about the recall for years but chose not to bother having it changed since I knew it was a false code. I would just clear the code and drive it for a little before i got an inspection. Since I have been doing a slow build on my own and the DTC was getting really annoying I decided to to see if they would still honor the recall. Of course I called Lexus Corp first and once they gave me the go ahead I called the dealer and brought it in late January. So today I have a new re-manufactured ECU.

Old ECU then new ECU.

Do you have details on the recall?

It was a TSB and I have to dig through my book marks to find it but I will. I signed up on the Lexus drivers website a while ago but I was browsing it recently just looking for info and there is a link next to my vin for safety recalls & service campaigns.

Her's the complete PDF. Technically it's the ECM.

The throttle response is definitely snappier with this new ECU. Before they changed it out I was already thinking of removing the throttle body and giving it a good cleaning. Maybe change the ECTS while I was at it since the car was feeling sluggish on acceleration. It was idling around 400 in drive or a lil above before the change and still idles about the same after the change but it really picks up like it's supposed to now.

Was the dealer hesitant to perform the recall?

I would not say hesitant because I came in with all the info about the Special Service Campaign and had already called Lexus Corp. and they told me just take it to the nearest dealer and they would perform the work for free. The service adviser definitely did not know what I was talking about and did act a little confused but I was persistent and stayed the course. It also helped that I knew the master tech from previous work to get my sunroof sorted out and he knew that I knew just about everything about MY car.
