Default ECU compatibility help

My 1993 LS400 has been stuttering, losing power on and off, along with alot of other symptoms. Anyway after diagnosing the codes I had 6. It seemed too convenient that a whole bunch of sensors had crapped out. So I went straight to the ECU. I opened it up and BINGO there was a fried capacitor.

I now have the problem of finding another ECU to match mine. 89661-50180 FX. I've been looking all over the world for one with no luck. If I find one with the same pin numbers will it work alright?
My pins numbers in order are : 34p.22p.16p.28p

no, the only one that will work well is the 94 LS400 ECU

I will research the number and post it up in a bit

it is an LS400, not a Celsior right? - is it left hand drive or right hand? - what country was it originally built for?

Car-part.com is good for finding ECUs. Some of the wreckers post part numbers too.

the problem with ECU's from ebay or the junkyard (car-part.com) is that the caps in that ECU are just as bad or worse shape than yours, so you get an ECU that works for 4 months and then you are right back to square one!

a better plan is to just fix it!

Yep its a 1993 LS400. It is right hand drive and was built for New Zealand, and still is in NZ. Im taking it to a ecu specialist to see if he can solder new capacitors in for me. I really don't want to stuff this one up

just make dam sure your ECU specialist utilizes the exact capacitors I that Yamae and I have linked to in our ECU repair thread, as they are a very rare type, and other types will not work correctly, so there are no substitutes that are not listed.

Unfortunately, capacitor availability In NZ and Australia of these very rare types is non-existent. So they will have to be imported from Japan or USA. Thankfully, they weigh almost nothing, so getting them fast is not all that expensive!
