LED DRL's for '98 LS400
I'd like to update my 1998 LS400 with a small strip of LED's inside the headlight lens. Would this be possible? My mechanic, not a Lexus expert, said no, but it's fairly easy on the MBZ 2002 SLK320, and I would think it could be done on a 1998 Lexus.
Weren't the '98 Lexus's delivered to Canada with the setup for DRL's, and the California dealers undid the connections? Am I crazy?
I'd like to be able to buy an inexpensive set, hook them up (maybe to the cigarette lighter line?) inside the lens, so that they couldn't be stolen easily.
Thanks for any help you can give. It can be technical, since I'm going to give whatever I can garner on this forum to my mechanic.
Cheers.

they make direct fit LED kits for newer german cars which is why fitting them is easier. US cars lack the wiring and relays that canadian cars have for DRL. the provisions are there such as fuses but no wiring is present.
you'll need to retrofit a strip of LEDs to your headlights and have an automotive electrician (not mechanic) install them for you, either on a separate independent switch or on an ignition source.

yes it's possible but not a small amount of work. (Google: Retrofit led drl)
'98 LS400s didn't have DRL installed, wiring may be there but a fair bit of stuff is missing.
that's the ghetto way to hook it up, please have a shop or someone familiar with auto-electric do it properly.

I found a place here in So Cal called DDM Tuning that sell different kinds of LED lights I put a set of RED LED's in my taillights and wow do they brighten up the lights and the brake lights really come alive. I used the 1157 bulbs at $10.00 each I also put the HID bulbs in my fog lights and do the ever light up the night. I tried the HID in the 1991 LS head lights and the pattern is pretty bad. I also put LED lights through out the interior and they work great.

I would think they could run these lights to hook up to the cigarette ighter, no? It doesn't have power unless the ignition is on.
Please post photos and instructions if possible.
