What's a good price for 99 LS400
I am thinking of trading my GS300 for a used 99 LS400 later this year. I am wondering what's a good price and how realistic are the dealers in their pricing. I see 99 LS 400's retailing for up to 38k but I also GS300's retailing for 28k-32k and I know the dealers can't sell the GS's for that much.
Thanks for any insight. Basically, i am trying thinking of one with under 40k miles and possibly with navigation.
And how does navigation work? Do I have to pay yearly for it or just for upgrades?
Thanks again.

price depends on features
as I am sure you know, the price you see depends on the option package on the vehicle.
A loaded '99 LS with Nav, heated seats, HID, etc..., < 40K miles, CPO, andin the right color should retail for ca. $35K-ish. From a private party, you could get it for less than that. Typically, the dealer will start you at ca. the $38K you mentioned, but with the economy where it is, you should have little trouble negotiating. Besides, the '99 is now 4-years old and should even fetch less...
BTW, the Nav is very good and works intuitively. If you don't mind operating your audio and climate control with touch screen, then you should find the Nav a good option to have. And No you don't have to pay annually, unless you want to update the data. That cost range from $400-$500, but often not necessary imo.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply.
What is the right color. My GS is pearl white and I would like the LS to be the same color.
I might be better off selling my GS and looking for a private party one if the difference in the tax is less then the savings. A good inspection should be all I need.
Navigation would be very nice to have. No more getting lost.

There are currently two 99 LS's on ebay. One is a green/grey with 20,750 miles with a "BUY IT NOW= $30,900.00" which is a good price. Car looks good except for the chrome door edge molding IMO. Has heated seats, VSC but no navigation .
The other one is silver/grey with 52,000 miles with a BUY IT NOW=$26,900.00 No Nav either.
Both look good, do a search and you will find them since no ebay links are permitted. Hopefully they are representing them correctly.
Also a few 2000 models in the high 20's low 30's.
