maybe just see if they have it quickly solved before questioning them - there is plenty of time to inform them of their incompetence if they fail, who knows, it may be one of the relays Yamae mentioned and be no big deal at all, and they may have it running fine shortly with a relatively small repair bill

Tech just called and said the car is running like a top and ready to go.

Said they went ahead and checked all the sensors, double checked timing again and gave a general "once over" on the timing belt job given how incompetent I told them my previous "mechanic" was. They said it all looked good, including my fan clutch replacement work and new "bolts" LOL

They left a voice mail so I did not get to ask them yet EXACTLY what they replaced so I will report back after I pick it up tonight.

They did complement me on the overall condition of the engine underside of the car (I also asked them to check the struts and other suspension parts while they had it on the lift). They are making me a list of things that are wearing out (rear passenger strut is worn and the upper control arm bushings and said they would be happy to install my parts since I mentioned Rock Auto and Amazon prices

So far so good as an overall experience and I think/hope I found a go to place when I cannot do it myself... which I feel more confident about by the job as a DIY.

Thanks again for all the great advice... kudos to all!

Final Update:

Car is running great. The Tech says the problem was a "secondary circuit" that had to be replaced and my total bill for the repair was under $120 with the part and them doing a once over on the car.

Does the Tech mean the "secondary circuit" of the fuel pump?
Did you see the replaced one?
