Default Speedo and tranny wacked out

Hello forum members,Yes I am new to the site.I think it is a great site with all the expert advice offered here! Now I'm asking for some of the great expert advice!
First off my speedo will go to 20-40 mph just barely moving and go up to like 100mph at maybe 40-50 true mph!I have installed another ECM and the problem is still the same.I have cked the wiring In the trunk and no wires seem to be broken!Im leaning to speed sensors? This has the tranny shifting funny and out of wack.Car has power and runs pretty good just weird shifting and not really that Lexus feel? Thanks in advance for your expert advice!Car has 94 k on it very nice just can't get to run out!1994 ls 400

Definitely try the speed sensor option... Shouldn't be too much for one from www.rockauto.com

have you dumped the ECU diagnostic codes?

just because you swap ECU's, doesn't mean the replaced ECU has new capacitors of the correct type, it could have capacitors in just as bad a shape as yours.

but before I did anything, I would drop the pan, replace the filter with a genuine Toyota filter, and use genuine Toyota T-IV to refill (you will need 4-5 quarts)

then, if it still is acting up, I would replace the Engine Coolant Temp sensor and do Yamae's ECU ripple test

UGH!!

someone has worked on this ECU before, and did a really poor job and used the wrong capacitors!! (and horrible long lead lengths that also kill the low-ESR) - can I use your photos in the main ECU thread on the dangers of Beavis and Butthead rebuilding a Lexus ECU?
