Default Sound system question

What is the difference between the Nakamichi sound system and the Premium sound system on the 1st generation LS400. Both look almost the same with the Nakamichi logo. Is the CD Changer in the trunk Nakamich too? someone told me it's panasonic or Pioneer. If not Nakamichi, why are they so expensive buying from dealer. My 91 LS400 is Nakamichi sound system, but there is no bass at all. What problem is that? Please tell me, I really want to know more about the sound system in LS400.

The Nak system is more refine in claritiy and bass then the Pioneer system.
Nakamichi head units in general are money $$$$ but the sound quality is tops.

The no bass issue is usually a sign of your amp about to go out.
Sooner or later you won't have sound at all.
This is a normal problem for the 1st gen LS in the amp dying.
It should be located in your trunk on the driver side at the wheel well behind all the carpet.

I believe the amp would be the same and I'm not sure about the cd changer.
I had the Pioneer I never ripped out the Nak before.
I believe the amp would be the same though and the cd changer is located in the same location for both.

'93 LS400's have the cd changer and amp on the driver's side of the trunk? I'm not sure about the amp, but the cd changer is on the passenger side in my '91.

yes, my cd changer is on passenger side. isn't that mean only the head unit is Nakamichi, but the rest of the sound system is pioneer?

so for those who have the pioneer system, you mean the amp is dying if the bass output is weak? i never knew the pioneer system had an amp for the sub. and is the amp located in the trunk near the sub?

I don't think the speakers are Nakamichi.
To GSquicksilver: the amp should be located under the cd changer in the LS, not so sure if it's the same for your GS.
