Question 1 last question on timing

I have just broke my front engine down to adjust the timing on my 92 lexus ls400- my question is this- Which cylinder, 1 or 6, is considered top dead center when turning the crank to position correct timing?

I messed up the first time and my timing was advanced 14 degrees to much.

Thanks for your help in this,
barry from nc
