Not really. You can walk into a place that does welding, and have them give it a whirl. Shouldn't be too expensive, considering you'd be right up around the cost of a decent subwoofer enclosure. The benefit of Shmee's setup, is that it's modular, so you can remove the old baffle, and swap out to a different one if your setup should change.

My original plan to use an Acoustic Elegance SBT15 has been changed due to having to mount it from underneath the rear deck, it was too deep to drop in from the top.
New plan, 12" EarthQuake SWS-12X shallow mount. Lots easier to mount, won't have to cut much if any of the carpeted trunk liner, easier grill to make, might be able to keep the OE 3rd brake light in place........
Should give me more than enough boom, has something like 31mm of Xmax.
