Are you telling me that you went ahead and removed the timing belt w/o knowing WTF you were doing?
Here's what you do:
Put your car in neutral NOW!
Tow it to a GOOD mechanic, ask him not to laugh at you, and then, tell him what happened.
Don't forget to mention just how you found out that "it was advanced to far".
Ask him to replace the timing belt with the dealer belt.
Purchase a factory service manual for the next time you are feeling bored.
Good luck with them... hm...valves.

Don't be too hash on the DIY man!

There is no adjustment that can be done on the timing belt except to tension it. You need to place the new belt on exactly the same way the old belt was removed teeth-for-teeth for all timing to be in sync.
Did you index and mark the old belt to camshaft and crankshaft pulleys and match them with the new belt? How about orienting crankshaft to TDC (0 degree) prior to removing the belt?
If you did not, you'll need to fully understand how ignition timing work on a four stroke engine to set the belt in correctly. Shop manual is a great place to start.
