Starter trouble in 93 LS400
I have a 1993 LS400 with about 197,000 miles on it. I got the car in April of 2013 and the starter had been making noise since I had the car sort of like the noise Chrysler product cars made in the late sixties and seventy's. Yesterday it made a slightly different noise on the morning start up and would only click once when I tried to start it up. The battery was fully charged and since the starter is probably the original I had the car towed to a local garage to have it repaired. I was quoted $800.00 plus tax to install a Denso starter which the mechanic said was a good quality starter. I thought that was a fair price so the mechanic said he would check out the starting system and replace the starter if it needs it. I was wondering if I should be doing anything else with the car while he has the car apart to replace the starter?

well I would say consider the replacing the knock sensors and their pigtails, since you are already in there, however, given the fact that they don't tend to go out, and their exorbitant cost, I think I would skip this on a 1990
