Rim question -- NEW PICS
http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/pts/4050475506.html
I'm interested in getting new rims for my '99 LS400 -- see above ad.
My OEM rims right now have 45mm offset 7.5 wide and per online research the above wheels have 35mm offset and are 8 inch wide. The tires I'm using are 235/55/17, stock suspension.
Would these stick out too far out pass the fender because of the offset? I want them flush with the fender.
Any thoughts on the asking price? Looks like they are about $185 each online. Seller is at least an hour away so I need all the info before I commit.

Is it the design of the wheel that might cause the brake issue ?

From his listing:
Should be ok but a test fit will verify brake clearance, 45mm is a conservative offset. The back will be sunk and a 20mm spacer will be a bit nicer. Front 5-10mm and as PD mentioned, depending on tire profile, you might need a bit of fender work but that is if the car is lowered.
ASA gt06 17 x 8 et 45 with a 5x114.3 bolt pattern. Made to clear Evo and STi brakes. Would look great on just about anything. Light weight, very good looking wheels.

I decided that I want to go with bigger wheels and tires instead. Would these wheels fit my '99 (stock suspension) without any mods? What would be the right size tires to get for these wheels? Dont want to go with really low profile tires since I want to have a decent ride quality. Thanks for the help.

Ask what the offset is. I wouldn't want 18 and 19's combined. Ride quality the 19 will be on a 30-35 aspect ratio tire. I would suggest some GS350 5 spoke 18's, like xtremex626's older wheels. 18x8 +45.
Can find some up for about 4 -6 bills depending on condition. These are what Ive been debating lately.

I would also like to ask this question. My 96LS400 is original and has not been modified, actually it still has the stock alloys to which this vehicle was bought with in 2000. However, I was thinking its time to put a nice set of offset on her. But I would like the ride to remain the same--comfortable, as well as ensuring the Calipers have enough clearance..
I currently have on 225/55/16 alloys. I would like to switch to 18's. Should I go with 235/55/18

i like to use this link for all my tire sizing needs:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
since you have 225/55/16, the site suggests 235/40/18 as the least amount of error (1.3%). it is good not to deviate too far (greater than 2%) from the original tire sizing so the speedometer stays accurate. play around with the numbers and see.

On a stock suspension, the factory 18" wheels on the LS430 and the later '06+ GS's look nice. These bolt up with no fender mods or brake caliper clearance issues. The offset is conservative being factory wheels.
The stock tire on the 95+ LS's is a 225/60-16, if going to 18" wheels, 245/45-18 is the recommended. 245/40 and 255/40 are also acceptable and closely match the current diameter of 25.7" - 225/55-16's.
timmy0tool's link is for checking tire size differences.

Back to my previous question please regarding these wheels: http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/pts/4017217739.html
Seller has tires for the rear 245/40/19, and the rims are 19x9.5 +40 offset.
The fronts are 18x8 +35 offset.
Will these fit without any fender mod or spacers?
Four wheels and 2 rear tires (per seller like new) , asking price is $250. Seller is 1hr and 15 mins away so I need the info before I commit.
