Default rear bass speaker ls400

i've got a 92 ls400. i took the nakamichi rear speaker from a 92 sc400. i thought it would just wire up into my ls400. i took the wires from the old panasonic speaker and adapted it to the nakamichi speaker so it would just hook up. but the speaker doesn't play. it barely makes a scratching noise. does it matter if the nakamichi is 5ohms and the panansonic is 2 ohms.

what am i doing wrong? thanks for the help

I am not an expert by any means on audio equipment. I do believe that will not work. Ohms are very important. I made a very rookie mistake several years ago. I had two twelves hooked up to an amp pushing the wrong amount of ohms. Fried the amp in a couple days. I would disconnect that speaker or you may possibly destroy the factory amp.

ohms = resistance to electrical flow. five ohms is 2 and a half times the resistance of two hms. it thinks its getting a very minimal signal.

i've got the amp that powers the nakamichi system. do you think that would be a plug and play situation? i don't anything about electronics so when you talk about ohms what is it i need to do to make this speaker work with the pioneer system. if the nakamichi amp plugs in where the old amp is do you think that would work? any help/advice is appreciated. thanks

no. nowhere near plug and play.

Please stop trying to frankenstein 20 year old audio sytems together. step back, do some research, then think about what it is you're trying to achieve.
