UCF10 help
Hey all. My 92 LS400 has a little gremlin somewhere.
Driving SOMETIMES will make the car have a small, but noticeable "buck" under acceleration and not want to get over 65. the rpm's just slightly bounce while holding a consistent speed, then when i give it the beans the rpm's will spike super high and then a good jolt. i just put in a new fuel pump and fuel filter last month. but like i said, sometimes it'll do this and other times she runs like a dream...
Am i having transmission issues? im thinking i should give it a flush...

I was having some intermittent problems that felt like my engine had a miss in it. I had a spare ECU in the garage and put it in. Put about 80 miles on it and it seems to run better. Those can cause some strange intermittent problems.

You could try unplugging your AFM (air flow meter) and see if it runs better. With it unplugged you will get a check engine light. If it runs better atleast you will know that you are NOT having transmission issues. Also if it runs better, I would bet that you either have a leaky ECU, or maybe a bad AFM. Just my two cents

It sounds like the transmission to me, but I am no expert.
That said, the consensus opinion is DON'T do a "power flush".
Fluid exchange is fine, either all at once using a machine, or DIY exchanging multiple times whatever you can get from the drain plug. I'm pretty sure that there is a thread on this topic.
I would check the dipstick for proper level, discolored or "burned" fluid, etc. before taking any other action.
Also check out the very extensive thread starring LScowboyLS and Yamae regarding replacing failing ECU capacitors. The title is something like "... all my problems solved".

failing ECU capacitors thread
as far as the transmission, drain it at the drain bolt for an hour, refill with genuine Dexron III (or perhaps even Toyota T-IV, if you want to try a slow introduction of it over several changes)
