Default Rear Main Seal Shot ?!?!?

Ok~
So I get back form a 2 1/2 week vacation and after jumping my car (No problem) I find a spot on the garage floor. So I have the car looked at and sure enough it is the Rear Main Seal !!!!. I had posted worries about this issue back a few months ago when my car did some smoke upon startup in fears that the Rear Main Seal was at fault, however the smoke issue stopped. This all relatively soon after my switch from regular oil to Mobil 1. SO is it to late to switch to another oil?? Or am I just going to drop the $1,200 + ? I have only driven the car about 35-40 miles since discovering the leak and I was told maybe with more driving the seals could get re-lubricated and seal up properly. I have heard this same problem with others who switched to Mobil 1. My car is a 1994 with 109,000 oil ALWAYS changed @ 3,000 miles and maintained @ Lexus. I hear the Valvoline (spelling) MAXLIFE does well in the LS400, ok any help/advice would be great.
Thanks,
Paul

if i only saw a spot of oil on the ground i would'nt worry about it too much and i would switch to the maxlife. i'm a mechanic and i never recommend customers spend large amounts of money on small oil leaks. i currently use the maxlife in my car and i have 212,000 miles on my car with no major oil leaks. i don't have a opinion on the maxlife because i've only been using it for a couple of hundred miles but i've heard nothing but good things about it. hope this helps alittle.

Post Maxlife

I switched to Maxlife after using synthetic oil because I thought I had developed an oil leak after switching to synthetic- turns out it was a transmission leak instead (showed up after I had the transmission flushed). However, with the MaxLife I noticed the engine was smoother and my gas mileage ticked up a bit, about a mile per gallon. I will be staying with Maxlife for the forseeable future, I am very happy with it. My 91 LS400 has 211,000 miles and runs very smooth and has lots of power. I have had the MaxLife in for a couple of oil changes now.

Sorry to sound like a dumbass.... but I always thought that once you go synthetic you can never change back...

maybe just a false myth... could someone please clarify this?

I have had no bad effects from doing this. The leak showed up while using synthetic (for only one oil change, not long term). What were supposed to be the bad things that would happen from switching from synthetic back to dino oils?
