Here is another link. I don't have any experience with Nexen but the Capital tire has been great for me.

don't cheap out on tires, that is what makes the whole car drive like an LS400!

there are basically only 2 great tires for the LS400

Michelin Primacy MXV4 (H-rated is just as good or better than V-rated on this tire)

Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus

This man speaks the truth. Several years ago I tried some other cheaper tire brand that had gotten excellent ratings on Consumer Reports on my 98 LS400, it was the worst 20K of that car's life. As soon as the tread was worn enough that I could justify ditching them, I went back to the Michelin MXV4... paid the freight, completely worth it, never used anything but since then.

To quote something I saw on a tire review website several years ago... with LS400 tires, it's all about the glide. It isn't an LS400 on the wrong tires.

My Captial Sport UHP's have been a great tire. I have had them on for 5 months. Go ahead and try to find bad reviews on this tire... Anyway, I have no interest in saying the tire would be good if it were bad. I saved a ton of money over Michelin's. I could not be more happy with my choice and I would buy again in a heartbeat.

The Captial Sport UHP's are a W (168 mph) rated tire with 360AA UCTG rating and 100 load index. Those specs are better then many tires that cost 50 - 100% more.

"you don't need a Galaxy S4 or an HTC One or an iPhone 5 - my generic chinese no-name phone I got off ebay for $95 full price is just as good as those $650 phones, I promise!"

I'm just speaking from experience. You have no experience with this brand. Where do you think most manufacturers have their tires made? Where do you think the iPhone is made...? lol There are plenty to cheap tires out there, I agree, but the Captial Sport UHP's are not one of them. The hundreds of consumer reviews speak for themselves.

I'm glad you like your tires and maybe you've found a new brand that works well, but....

I too was happy with the inexpensive tires that I put on my LS400, at first. They didn't start to get noisy and rough until they had some wear on them, I think after about a year and 15-17k miles. Then they were awful.

I think a lot of these cheaper tires are engineered to be smooth and quiet when new, but with no consideration to how they wear. That's how they do well on comparison tests, because those always use new tires.

if you go to tirerack.com - you can read literally 1000's of tire reviews from owners, both good and bad, about how different tires have held up over 50,000 miles or more. - and you can read strictly reviews from LS400 owners!

since they sell far more tires than anyone else, they also have the deepest database of reviews, kind of like the amazon.com of tires!

people on this database are often getting 60,000 or more very nice and velvety miles from Michelin Primacy MXV4, with some owners on their 4th or 5th set

when the best selling tire for a particular model is also among the most expensive tires, that usually means it must be pretty good for people to keep buying these same expensive tires over and over through the years

I agree with you guys totally but there seems to be a disconnect here. You are making generalizations without looking at the link I posted. If you look at the reviews I linked there are plenty of people who are saying they are reviewing with 50K - 60K miles. Reading the reviews is what convinced me to jump in. Not a lot of info on website but what info I have found has all been positive. That's a good sign. We all know there would be tons of post about how crappy the tires are if that were the case. I can't find any. If you can find it, please post.

Honestly, I doubt the tire would have such great ratings if it as cheap and bad as people assume. I love Michelin's, believe me, but I think they are a rip off. Their profit margin is really sticking it to the customer. If I can get a good tire at less then 1/2 the cost I will do this any day of the week. We all know Michelin's are a better tire but are they worth more then double? I seriously doubt it. I mean $480 OTD for 245/45 R18's can't beat it.

I only really notice a difference when going over speed humps. It feels a lot better when taking turns above 40. More planted would be a better term. The MXV4's on the stock wheels side walls were cracking I don't know how long they were on the car before I bought it.

what tire pressure are you running?

it is common for Peps Boys and even dealerships to severely over inflate tires

29 psi is about ideal on LS400 and needs to be checked cold (first thing in the morning)

you can run as high as 40 safely if you don't mind trading the wonderful ride for a couple of extra mpg, however you will also give up some wet stopping distance in doing this.

did you make sure to get them road force balanced?
