Question Stagg SHS Struts

I saw a post on these struts here which looked like a pre review of sorts. It actually looked kinda promising. I saw another post on a BMW forum that looked alright too. I'm about to hit the buy it now button on these... any thoughts?

or ?

These aren't the exact ones I'm lookin at for the UCF 10/11 but look pretty much the same.

These sayings, "you get what you pay for", "do it right the first time". That's not to say those cannot be used, just that we've seen what the known manufacturers product is capable of. KYB GR-2, Tokico Blue. Lifetime warranties are great but that just means you'll be swapping these budget pieces out every 10-12K miles for an annual drill.

I doubt these would be "re purposed Bilstiens". The box probably says, "Made in PRC/China". And or it is a "Bilstein Shock absorber Technology"/copy-knock off. The Bilsteins in ours are now hovering the 100K miles mark.

Of course, I looked at these with a spoonful of salt. I just know that when Tampico juice first came out, I could get a gallon for $1 or less. Now they sell for much more. I for some reason think these are decent. Top of the line? Never crossed my mind. But I think they might hold for at least 70k. I'm not looking to cheap out at all. I think this might be one of those things where you actually may get quality for a deal. Anywho, I think I'm gonna roll the dice. When they get here I'll definitely share for everyone.

Anyone else with input/experience/thoughts?

They lasted about 18 hours before they blew. I went over a speed hump testing to see if they would bottom out like the originals. Didn't bottom out but I hear a loud poof. The next speed hump I took very slowly and the back end slammed hard. Struts gone on the first day. For what it's worth, I did that that first bump faster than I normally would...but I was just testing them out. STAGG SHS FTL! Let's see how the warranty goes...

The thing is sitting on oem springs.

They cost about 150 if I remember correctly. Bought them when I started this thread. Been a while but I just put them in Friday past.

That's pretty bad and having a failure like that occur puts the driver at risk. They'll probably replace them but I'd just circular file them and be clean of that company. I wouldn't even sell the replacements. Risking another person's safety on them, would have my conscious bothering me.

They had to be defective there is no reason for something like that to happen other than faulty construction.

And here, I just bought a set of Sensen shocks (just shocks) and top mounts for $207 shipped ($107 for shocks/$100 for top mounts). I've heard better things about these, though the full strut assembly (spring, and all) costs ~$430 for the set of 4.

Well gave it some time.

First I mailed Stagg and they have not responded. No contact via phone.
Disconcerting...

Weirdly enough, as I have been driving the struts seem firmer they don't bottom out anymore. At least with no one in the car. I've been hesitant to install the front set because of my experience with the rear but the ride is much improved. Still only a C+ experience since the car bottoms out with any full sized adult in the rear. It's OK when there's only a front seat passenger.

Third, I just installed some 20" wheels and that's when I noticed it no longer bottoming out.

How come there aren't any autoparts provider carry any replacement struts for this car? This puzzles me.

There are enough shocks available, is there a particular part or application you are looking for? Converting from an air suspension equipped model?
