Default Just cleaned my MAF...

And boy are my arms tired. Lol. Anyway, it was very easy and painless. I purchased some CRC MAF cleaner from the auto parts store and pulled the MAF out. Remember, only do this if you actually have a MAF sensor. Most Lexus's had the AFM (air flow meter) that is not designed to be cleaned.

On 98 - 2000 models the MAF is extremely easy to remove. Disconnect the negative, disconnect the connector, remove and gently spray with MAF cleaner down the plastic barrel. I repeated this twice and let any excess fluid drain out. Also, spray the connectors and give ample time to dry. Hook everything back up and you are good to go. I noticed a minor change in smoothness, acceleration, and performance. I could not see any dirt on mine but I am sure if yours are dirty you would see a greater improvement.

At the same time, we cleaned my friends 2001 Chevrolet Blazer ZR2. His was really dirty. We cleaned the heck out of it and the difference in his overall performance is tremendous. I mean huge. He is getting at least 5 more mpg and estimate 5 - 10 hp to boot.

If you have a dirty MAF cleaning it will help a lot. Just be very careful and never touch the hot wires with anything. They are well protected on on my ls400. You can barely see them. Again, if you have an Cardone air flow meter just clean with compressed air. Never spray anything into it.

i'm sure with the salty air in Puerto Rico that cleaning the MAF does indeed benefit some. i on the other hand really didn't see a huge improvement but results do vary more drastically than others. the results could also be psychological, like me thinking my car is MUCH faster after a wash .

I agree, spending its life in that climate has taken a toll. How much it helps really depends on how dirty it is. The transformation to my friends Blazer was incredible. Mine was minor but noticeable. And the type of noticeable that you still think "she feels really good" days after your performed the procedure.

I wish I took pics of the Blazers MAF. All 3 hot wires had a coating of dirt / oil as well as around the rods across. Turned from black to silver again. Electronic cleaner is also the same stuff that is in the maf cleaner.

I would move to PR if the crime wasn't out of control, I especially would love to live on Vieques

The 460's start at 90K, with excise tax. Citibank financial owned my car as an exec car before I purchased it from them. They paid over 74k when they purchased my 99 in Nov. of 98. I have the original marbete. Totally ridiculous. I can't help but laugh when I think about it.

As you can imagine, excise tax of 35% is
