95 ls400 with 94 ls400 engine
Hello CL, I am new to this club and I have a couple of questions. So my 95 lexus had a blown head gasket in which I decided to replace the engine. The mechanic put a 94 engine in there and now is is smoking the injector is flooding with gas which appears to be coming out of the exhaust. I was told that I could replace the computer which would more than likely fix the problem. Either that or my wiring harness. Can someone please help, my car has been in the shop for 3 months. Can I use any ecu that comes from a 94 ls400?

Your mechanic is an idiot if he didn't match engine and chasis codes There were options that made some differences. For example dual tps.
Changing out your ecu and or wiring is a cluster f@#k of an idea.

By any chance this car you speak of is Green and in the NOVA area (SAM off of R1)? However, to answer your question that's a bad idea to begin with since a lot of the parts on the engine it totally different. He might have gotten away with just head and block but everything else like the dual TPS, or the MAF, and im sure lots of other stuff is different. And which ECU is it running on?

thank you all, an idiot he is and I am still clueless as to what to do with this car. A simple engine replacement hs turned in to a 3 month nightmare.

Yeaaah, he shoved a 1st generation 1uzfe that even within the 1st generation underwent a ton of updates and then was updated even more in the 95+ models... What an idiot. For that idiocy, they should replace the whole entire engine, trans, harness, ecu, etc for a 98+... Free. What's even worse is that you're saying it was done at a Lexus Dealership.... Ouch.

First off. why the hell would you replace the whole engine from a blown headgasket???? the money you spent could of gone into building the orginal strong as hell motor. wtf?. ......
Makes my blood boil.
I say part it out and get a new ls400.
well good luck !
