question about steering wheel radio controls

what was the first year that steering wheel mounted radio controls were standard on LS (or at least common)

never an option on the LS400.

Not sure for the LS430, I believe it was '01, from the get-go.

fitting the wheel wouldn't do anything. the OEM radio doesn't have provision for any external controls.

The next best thing is to use the Axxess RF SWC module http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120RFAS...l-Adapter.html

Just received mine, Ill install it at the same time I get my brake bypass module and report back
