Default 96 with 98 front end?

Is this a common swap? A local friend here has a 96 LS with a 98+ front end (hood, fenders, bumper, lights). He is not on the forums, but the car itself came from out west (new mexico). I don't think I've read anything about people swapping the front ends, but it looks pretty good.

Anybody else seen this car or another one with a swapped front end? It's kinda cool because you could buy an older 96 model cheaper, and then just swap the front end out for a newr look.

You couldn't do it on a 1st gen 90-94, because the body lines are different and would not line up right.

please search, it's been discussed many times over the years.

basically, yes it's do-able, but not really worth it because of the large number of parts that owuld fit.

'95-00 use the same basic chassis, so the parts will bolt on if you use ALL of them.

on the shortlist, you'd need to replace the following:
-hood
-fenders
-grill, incl. surround.
-front bumper
-front bumper support
-crash bar (maybe, i forget)
-foglights
-corner lights
-turn signals
-hood supports

The parts and paintwork alone will cost you as much as it would have to just buy a '98-00, plus you still would have the older engine, transmission, VSC, etc...

Thanks PD, forgot to search.

I was just wondering if it was a common swap. I'm not interested in it as I have a 93. Just trying to cure my curiosity.....
