Default I think i might have found my LS

so i have been looking for a long time now and i think i might have found it.

my current daily driver, 95 avalon just hit 300k miles and is about to need some work. so i have been looking for my new car.

So I found nearby to me a 2000 LS400, 140K miles, black on black.

I havent been able to take it out for a test drive yet but maybe tomorrow.

they want $8000. and is the lowest they will go.

Only problem I could see without drivin it yet is,
1) drivers side seat is a little worn, not bad, just minor.
2) radio lcd is on it way out, doest display top of numbers.
3)needs hood struts.
4) possibly only has one key, he is going to check for others.

the hood struts will be replaced by them, and i will try to have the radio fixed but that is no guarantee

Timing belt has been replaced at 95k

I think the price is fair, not the best deal, and not a bad deal.

what do you guys think?

Im going there tomorrow for a test drive and really check it out. didnt have time today.

Is it a northern car? did you check the undercarriage for rust? i bought a 00 LS400 for my GF and it was from boston. got a good deal, but sure is rusty under there. Suspension work has been very difficult due to rust. Thankfully all the bolts and nuts are available from dealerships but alignments have been difficult and delayed...

LCD will cost a minimum of 115 to fix yourself.

another non remote key will be at least $60.

If its rust free and original paint, 8k is not bad. but you might as well pick up an ls430 for 10k....

I looked underneath and it doesn't look like it's rusted, exhaust ect looked to be in good condition

For some reason I am not crazy about the 430. I'm not sure why.

I think I am more attracted to the body style and interior of the 98-2000

because the 430 is much more feminine looking, and this bothers me to no end, as it is such a nicely engineered car, the LS seemed to get better each year

2000 was the last year for a MANLY LS!

That's close to the prices I'm seeing here in the WashMet area. If all goes well with the test drive go for it.

sounds like a nice car, but 8k is a little steep. I just picked up my 2000 for $6500 last week. That being said the 98-00's don't seem to come up that often so I would still maybe go for it

Also be sure to post pics if/when you get it! Probably when lol

The hood struts are fairly inexpensive at Rock Auto

Seems like a good deal, better if you can get it down to 7500. LCD on the radio means you can upgrade to something better! Everything else is just minor issues. No rust is a plus! On the 430 topic, the 1st gen of the 430 is fugly IMO, however, the 04 + 430 are really too sexy. If i ever upgrade and stay in the LS line, then i will definitely opt for the 05-06 ls430. It just looks soo good!

Well I took it for a ride today. It drove very smooth and had good power.

The only keys it has is the master and valet key.
They are going to fix the hood and AC (needs a recharge). But the ac compressor kicks on.
Tires and brakes look good.
It also has the owners manual
They won't fix the lcd screen.

All those issues I don't have a problem with, they were just leverage to knock the price down. But they won't budge. Lol

The radio will be taken out soon and replaced soon with a double din.
That is one reason I did not want factory navigation.

So..... I put a down payment on it and hopefully Monday I will have the money from the bank and it will be mine!

First things I will do to it.
Tinted windows, and alarm/remote start.

I saw it. Looks nice. I just prefer no navigation. That way I can put my double din navigation in there.

Well I passed on the LS. The dealer kept dicking me around.

So I found another 2000 ls with 95k miles for a great deal and picked her up.

She is in the body shop now.
