Question Is different paint a good idea

I'm thinking of repainting my LS a different color. Perhaps Black. Since the interior is beige it will look fine. My question is does repainting to a different color than stock effect the value of the car ? If so how much ?
More over in average what cost am I looking at ? given the fact that I'd want close to original color quality.

Genarally any car that has had paint work, (accident, vandalism) it seems as though the dealer will penalize you on trade in, if they catch it.

There are a few things that you need to consider though. First is the quality of the work. This is the most important part. You can expect to pay 4-5 K for a superior job. Second, if you are painting an entirely different color, then they will need to paint the door jams, inside the trunk edges and engine bay....etc. This is very time intensive and will push the cost up quick. Also, the ability of the person doing the painting will determine the outcome of the paint job. As with any paint work that is done, make sure that they wet sand the clear coat so that you don't have that "orange peel" look. In addition, they will need to fix all of the little door dings and paint chips as well. If they don't fill in or sand the rock chip spots down, you'll still be able to see where the chips were.

Good luck.

How old is your Lexus?

Unless the paint on your car is already showing its age, it's not easy to match the original paint work of a Lexus
