Default Megan Coilovers on a UCF10

Aloha All,

After extensive scouring on the forums I've seen quite a few threads and pics with members using the Megan EZ coilovers on the UCF10. Looking at the Megan home page, they say that they don't offer any coilovers for the UCF10 chassis. I contacted them via email and they said:

We do not sell this for the earlier 90-94 as there is a difference in front shock length between that model that does not appeal to the general public.

Thank you and have a great day!

So my question is:
Is everyone with Megan coilovers running the ones meant for the UCF20? Can someone confirm the part number that they are using on the UCF10?
How is the ride height and ride? I am not looking for a crazy drop, maybe 1/4 - 1/2 inch max and a stock ride feel.

Here are the numbers I found online:
EZ Street PN# MR-CDK-LL91-EZ
http://meganracingwholesale.com/mega.../i-520397.aspx

LP Street PN# MR-CDK-LL91
http://meganracingwholesale.com/mega.../i-290612.aspx

Cheers!

umm the link you posted says the EZs fit 90-00 cars (UCF10 through UCF20), which i'm sure they do. there are lots of members here with UCF10 running EZs.

Thanks I want to make sure.. Especially after this morning.

After the initial email reply,I asked if they made anything for a UCF10 and this is the response I got:

We do not make anything for the 90-94 due to aforementioned reasons. (reference to previous email response)

Thank you and have a great day!

Looking at their home page the part number I listed above MR-CDK-LL91-EZ says its applicable to the UCF20 years

Thoughts?

uhh you may want to call them, every contact i've had with them before indicates the coils were actually made on a UCF1x.

I know far too many people on megans with UCF1xs for that to be true.

that being said, the megans can't get close to stock height or ride, minimum 1.5-2" drop in the front at max height.

Eeek. 1.5" - 2" drop may be a bit much for my daily drive. The damn AF Bases like to put up speed tables so a hella flush drop is out of the question. I already scrape sometimes even going over diagonally.

I'm not running anything crazy
IS350 stock 18" rims
235 40 18 in front
255 35 18 in rear

I was hoping for a coilover replacement esp since KYB blues and H&R springs will cost just as much as a coilover set...

Any other suggestions?

if you're not looking to drop the car real low, then the megan ez's are your best bet. ride isn't harsh by any means and yes, the Megan EZ's are interchangeable between the UCF10/UCF20/UCF21.

Honestly the ride will probably be better with the KYB spring setup vs the coilover setup. If you are never intending on lowering there is no real reason to go with coils.

My rear (only part of the set which is still adjustable) is not lowered all the way and it is pretty slammed almost the whole tire is tucking under the fender. So you can drop them very low and still have a pretty good ride. As far as reliable... my coils had supposedly only 5 months of wear and they are now seized. Not sure how long they will last. But p.d. says that he has them 4 years with no problems so I wouldn't know what to tell you as far as reliabilty is concern. They do ride nicely though...

around here pure drifter's word is pretty reliable (he is the moderator), and he is running megans himself. those that run coils almost always have the intention of lowering the car. it sounds like you have that intention, if not now then in the future. with 18" wheels i think a modest 1.5" drop will look great and give you ample ground clearance.

you can always redo the exhaust to tuck upward more. the downpipes tend to hang too low and are the first parts to scrape.

Cool thanks for all of the help...
I feel more secure buying the coilovers after this..
One more questions now..

EZ or LP? They seem to be the same specs except the LP front shocks are 20 mm longer?

From Ebay

LP
SPRING RATES:
F: 62mm ID; 200mm length; 12 kg/mm
R: 62mm ID; 220mm length; 8 kg/mm

DAMPER SPECS:
F: 115mm stroke; 220mm length; A2 valving code
R: 135mm stroke; 300mm length; A1 valving code

EZ
SPRING RATES:
F: 62mm ID; 200mm length; 12 kg/mm
R: 62mm ID; 220mm length; 8 kg/mm

DAMPER SPECS:
F: 115mm stroke; 200mm length; A2 valving code
R: 135mm stroke; 300mm length; A1 valving code

that's likely a typo, as far as I know LP and EZ have the same basic design since they didn't redesign the entire coilover.. the valving, valves, adjusters, and materials are all different.
