Default stupid car phone draining battery! help!

hey guys.. i looked in the archives first but i didnt see any answers to my problem.

heres the deal, the built in cell phone in our 92 ls400 is draining the battery. every time you turn the ign on or start the car, it turns itself on. sometimes, when the car is parked, it turns itself on. if i dont remember to turn it off every single time, it sucks away at the battery and this is getting to be a really big problem. one little mistake can leave the car helpless in the morning when i go to leave.

i was told everything that controls the phone was somewhere in the trunk next to the cd changer but im not about to tear the carpeting up unless im sure.

anyone else have this problem? is there a single way to just cut power to the phone assembly all together?

THANKS!

My car had that option..

When I got the car the phone was removed and the little chip was left in the console.

I also removed the side buttons for the microphone and stuff.

Yeah, its the original stone age motorola. Youre right, it should power off, but the phone is fried or something cause when it turns on, instead of the whole thing powering up, just the tiny "Pwr" light comes on, with no backlight, its VERY VERY hard to see. As yall know, when the phone is on, the phone takes over the drivers side rear speaker in the door, that is the only way we can tell if the phone is on and draining or not.

The front passenger side door speaker also stopped working, but im pretty sure thats just a loose connection somewhere.

i have the same problem right now with my 91 Ls4. all i do is pull the fuse for the phone. the only problem is i can't leave the fuse out because the radio speakers won't work if i do. pulling the fuse everytime i get out the car is becoming very annoying. if i don't pull the fuse i can hear the phone beeping even after i get out the car and it's really getting on my nerves. i've even unpluged the handset from the center console and that didn't help either. so if anybody can figure out how to kill the power to the stock phone please help, if i figure something out i'll get it back to everyone!!!! thanks!
