New to forum and Lexus
Hello, I purchased my first Lexus yesterday (3-5-13) a extremely well maintained 92 LS 400. The car has 113,000 miles on it and has been sitting in a garage for a few years. I just rotated the tires and changed the engine oil ( Mobile 1). I ordered a K&N air filter, NGK plug wires and NGK laser Iridium plugs. The car runs very good now but im sure it could be better. Just curious if this is a good start to doing a good tune up on the car? Thanks for any info!!!

Congrats on the purchase...sounds like you found a jewel... low miles on that car.
Not much to tuneup in these cars.. plugs and wires should cover it... might want to look at fuel/air filters and check the condition of the tranny and diff fluids... they could be needing some attention...

while doing a timing belt job (every 90k interval), you can do a tune up by replacing the caps, rotors, and sparkplugs. also i would change the rear diff fluid, as well as a simple drain and refill of the transmission. only use toyota type-IV ATF on the transmission. any synthetic gear oil will work in the diff.

Thanks for all the info! The owner said the timing belt had not been changed so I'm definately doing that soon. I checked the trans fluid and it looks brand new (red), not sure if trans fluid gets dirty with age or not? I will also change out the rear diff fluid. Thanks again!

Got the diff fluid, transmission fluid and fuel filter changed today. The diff and trans were super easy but the fuel filter was pretty tough to get off and back on. I'm not sure if it was the original filter but it had toyota marked on it and dirty gas was coming out of the IN side. Next will be the NGK plugs and wires when they come in the mail.

Are you going to be doing the timing belt yourself too?
