Default Quick Question Megan EZ

I am thinking about picking up some Megan EZ coilovers. My question is since the rear doesn't go low and if i mess with the preload will the rear have a high chance of getting blown?

Who said the rear doesnt go low? This is my LS400 on EZs and could still drop lower without messing with the preload. I dont know how much lower youd like to go...

I also have EZ's but mine will only go that low if I lower the spring perch, drooping the spring. I have a pic in the pic thread for comparison.

I hav been told that Megan allows up to 1" of droop before voiding warrantee. But that's just what I heard, te we site says keep the preload at 0 (or just snug)

They will go low, but you will have to adjust the preload. I didn't move mine too much, and got it pretty low. Not really sure about them going out any faster though....

They get decently low and yes i've heard these can be dropped an extra inch when messing with the preload and stay within tolerance.

yes you can go low but as stated you will need to mess with the preload (aka spring droop). i suggest to lower the height adjustments as much as you can and see if you like it. if you still want to go lower, only then should you mess with the preload. it goes pretty low already on a 90-94 car.

and changing the preload will change the rate of wear on the shocks since they will not be in their ideal travel tolerance anymore. you're actually giving more suspension travel which equals more wear.

yes, the rears will have a higher chance of getting blown if you mess with the preloads (further than what Megan has specified which is around 1"). i had my megan ez's drooped to almost tuck rim on my 19" wheels and it was pretty damn soft in the rear after.

Same thing happened to me with the LP one it doesn't go as low so I had to move the preload but the ride still the same so yeah it turned out pretty good.

I thought the rears went pretty low. My LS430 was tucking the very top of the tire and still could go lower. Maybe it's different on the LS400.

Do the LP's go lower than EZ's?

just to give you guys an idea.. this is how much i drooped the rear springs in the rear to achieve the height you see it at:

^ yes, the rears were sitting like that in the air.

nope, same exact thing. everything about the EZ and LP are the same except for the valving IIRC. rears still won't go low without drooping the springs. honestly, it's best to just get BC coils or D2 Racing, they're not much more than the LP's.

and plus, once you droop, there's gonna be a weight imbalance so one side in the rear is gonna be lower than the other, etc. and i've noticed that when you park on bumps and such, the front end will raise up. it's hard to explain but once you droop the springs, you'll know what i'm talking about.

Love my D2 racing coilovers. Haven't touched them in 3 years. Idk how low you plan to go but my quarters sit about half an inch above the rim of my 19x10+13's in the back. When I hit bumps it tucks rim.

^D2's are indeed nice! i'm currently tucking rim in the rear with them maxed out (no droop of course!)

First of all. You need to specify which car you have because the UCF20 chassis and the UCF10 Chassis are very different.

That being said, Megan coilovers on the UCF10/11 DO REQUIRE PRELOAD AJDUSTMENT to be really low. If that is not something you are comfortable with then buy BC Coilovers because they go low without having to deal with adjusting your preload. BC coilovers also can be ordered with any spring rate and are valved accordingly for no additional cost.

The thing about Megans EZ/LP is that you can adjust them to be pretty damn low but the BC can be adjusted even lower than the Megans will go.

I hope that helps!
