.. usually when starting up cold. It repeats the click about 10-15 times then stops.

Anyone have any idea what this could be?

I had a similar noise coming from my glove box (99 LS) ... very similar noise, didn't happen all the time... drilled it down to the in cabin filter access panel at the back of the glove box... it was in wrong and make the noise as it was loose and would sometimes bang on the glove box itself. Removing and re-installing fixed the problem... hope yours is as easy to fix... only way I found it was to let someone else drive while I disassembled the area till I got to the noise...

I was also going to suggest looking at the Cabin Air Filter area - there is a fan back there - if something is loose it could be tapping against the fan periodically.
