Which gen looks the best when modded?
Hey guys you might have seen my last thread about trading 91 LS for an 98-00 LS. It's a posting that I should have put in the classifieds. Being that I'm a new member I have to establish myself with postings, so here is one that's related to me wanting to trade my LS.
I always liked the the first gen LS and I bought one to mod because it was from my era. Then I started seeing modded 3rd gen LS's around this forum and I'm starting to like them more than what I'm working with. Actually, I dig the back of the first gen and the front of the 3rd but I doubt if anyone has ever merged the 2 together. Now I've seen some modded 5th and 6th gen LS that look too ill, but I'm still stuck on that 3rd gen.

The 89-94 are classic. The 95-97 was a refresh of the first gen and the 98-00 added more refinement with some softening of the hard lines of the 95-97. They all have their own appeal and uniqueness so none in my mind stand out as being -the- best.
I like the slightly edgier lines of the 95-97. The headlights and lower front fascia of the 98+. The rear of the 89-94 with the exhaust openings in the rear bumper. Tails of the the 98+ and the interior wood trim on the 99+. Not to mention the 98+ had the VVTi motor and extra gear in the tranny.
LS430, 04+ but the overall body lines never caught me. I'd take a 430 this over USF 4X but there are aspects I like about the 460 too. The 4'th gen looks up to date while the more I look at ours the more dated it becomes. Not bad, I like older cars.
My thought toward build quality lies with the LS400's in either generation. 97-00 would be my preference. (This is factoring in all the threads regarding trouble issues here.) The transponder/immobilizer of the 97+ along with the side impact air bags. Factory HID a nice option from 98+. So in an overall the 98+ have nice features and the combination looks to build/modify on.

I like the front end lights of the 89-94, but I don't see many mods for them out there. I saw some euro lights replacements on ebay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-LS400-...sories&vxp=mtr) but they don't do anything for me. Would like to see something more dramatic. Otherwise I would continue with my project for my LS. That 98-00 deal has so many options.
