Default Strange whirling noise...?

Start off its a 94 with 220,xxx miles this morning i notice my car was making strange noises. Usually before i take off i start the car and let it sit and warm up for about 5 min. It doesn't happen right away maybe about 30 seconds or so after. I notice my car making a "whirling" noise. As if it was building on boost. My rpm rating on a cold start is at 1100-1000 give or take. When its warmed up its usually at 800 700 give or take. But the noise has now become when i accelerate as well. The noise sounds like its coming from the tensioners as i kept putting my ear close to it. I recorded the the sound along with taking a video to give it a better idea.

I guess if i can say what it sounds like from the specific area is like when tires rub against the fender wall when your car is low.

I can't see/hear any video, but ...

When the "fan bracket" goes bad, it can make a whirling noise. I thought it was some fluid thing when it went on my car. It is actually the bearing failing in the bracket that holds the engine fan.

With the engine off, you may notice the fan being a little wobbly. You may also notice some metal filings in the vicinity. To test for sure, remove the fan belt. When you get to the point of hearing it like this, the bracket should be very wobbly. Start the car with the belt removed and the noise should be gone.

yea its weird it almost sounds like when you dont have the window up all the way and you could hear the air whistling. i tried redoing the video so you can hear it. What i do plan on doing soon was replacing the belts, along with the tensioner's and bearings with a new water pump. getting this kit. I think we have a longo lexus acct so i might save more than going through sleazebay. Im waiting right now cause i dont want to spend any money on parts if its the end of the world. >_<

I still can't see any video.

If it IS the fan bracket, you're half way to a T-belt job anyway, so that's a good time to do it. It really should be pretty easy to check before taking much apart though.

The fan bracket can be seen at step 20 of the T-belt job in http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/engine/timingbelt.html

If you want to do the bracket, but not the T-belt you still have to do almost everything to that point anyway. But well before you get that far - even before disassembling anything, you should be able to test to see if there is too much play in the fan bracket. Sliding axially a mm or two should be fine, but there should be no wobble.

I guess ill update this. Yesterday around lunch 4pm ater getting in at 8am i started the car. Same warm up routine. No noise. Drove it around to get some eatz. Again no noise. Later drove it after going out to pf changs and gave it about a 4hr cool down of no driving, hopped on the fwy about 10 min into the drive and 8 min til i thought the end of days was coming and mayans were going to attack, my car through a cel light that is now still on. Im guessing cold start after over 8hrs of sitting causes it to do it. But then again it was sitting for about 6 7 hours this morning before going to work and the noises i posted did not happen or take place.........
