Default Cigarette lighter

Should the cigarette lighter always be live? I recently got the 2000 ls400 and I notice the cigarette lighter as well as the outlet in the arm rest is always live.

Maybe that the reason my battery been dying when parked overnight. I wonder what could cause the cigarette lighter to always be live.

usually some kind of installation of some aftermarket something

if you have an aftermarket stereo, alarm system, HID's, etc (anything electronic that isn't stock) - check those circuits first!

Attached is a schematic diagram for 98-00 JDM Celsior. Probably your USM is mostly the same. The red lines are ACC lines and there are 3 fuses.

The chances are
1, an internal short circuit of the Ignition Switch between AM1 to pin 3
2, the internal short circuit at the Radio No.2 line equipments.

There are equipments that require both constant 12V and ACC 12V at Radio No.2 line. For example the radio / stereo needs constant 12V supply for the backup memory as well as ACC 12V. When something wrong happens in those or at some aftermarket equipments, there is a possibility that ACC and constant 12V are short circuited internally. When this happens, you can obtain 12V at cigar lighter lines. Removing the fuse Radio No.2 is a way to conform this. Is you cigar lighter still active when the fuse removed? If not, the Ignition Switch is not short circuited.
