Default shaking at high speed

My LS 400 vibrates at about 80 and gets more noticable up to about 100 then evens off. I think it may be the tires need balanced but I have never had a balance problem that could only be felt at above 80. In the past if my tires were out of balance you could feel it at any speed. What do you think?

One more quick question, if when I go over bumps the front end squeeks, is that shocks or something else?

Thanks!

go to an alignment shop and have that checked out. the squeaks you hear over bumps are probably shocks (probably). if it bottoms out, that could be something else.

i had the same problem and it wasn't the balance it was the steering dampner. that's the shock that is bolted to the steering rack.

How do you get to the steering dampener? I think I have
the same problem with my car, and would like to check
it out. Also what parts would i have to replace there, just
the shock, or should I replace some other stuff (ie bushings
or something) just to be safe.

thanks

raja996 u have to get the car in the air so u can get under it. the dampner is black and it's bolted to the steering rack which is under the car towards the rear of the engine compartment. the dampner only takes 5 minutes to change once u locate it. i didn't change anything else but the dampner. i recommend the u make sure your wheels are balanced correctly. the dampner is about $120 from the dealers in the ny-nj area. hope this info helps. good luck!!
