I shall try this!

Just not too hard, firm but gentle pulls until it starts to bite.

It is supposed to be nice and white when new...

super simple job, if you haven't done this to your car, it s a good idea to change your cabin filters every couple of years to keep your heater/blower system working and smelling nicely. I don't know what the Lexus Service interval but with how easy it is to change (on 95-97, dunno about other years) i'd change it every 2 years or 20-25k miles...

do mine yearly (or try to).

make them yourself for cheap (and get better filtration too) by buying the highest quality home AC filter from your LHS and cutting it to fit the cardboard frame of your current filter.

I've seen people do that successfully and unsuccessfully. Just be careful and make sure it is a perfect fit in the filter holder and or housing. Any gaps or anything but a super snug fit in all corners and on all sides will prevent filtration partially or completely...

Oh and when you remover your old filter, be sure you have a vacuum going and sucking as you drop the old filter out so debris doesn't fall into the blower or ventilation system. Also a good idea to wipe down filter housing and/or holder before putting the new filter in!

Pull the lower glovebox
There's a removable cover towards the back so its easier to access the filter
The filter is located in a white plastic box.
There's pull up clips to remove the cover for the filter
Change the filter then reverse the steps

Your done!

i use the carbon filter from the dealer as well. change it depending on conditions as some people live in dusty areas moreso than others. inspecting it is very simple!
