Today 3/31/15, I went to discount tire and got brand new tires (Yokohama YK580) for my 97 Ls400. The rep knock off $30 of the original price, plus they will mail me $100 visa debit card. These tires supposedly improves your gas mileage by 1 or 2 mpgs. I will test this claim as I'm about to take a 400 mile trip to Houston this weekend.

Replaced trunk seal, picked up but haven't installed new air and cabin filters. Will reinstall summer hoops this weekend.

Let me know how you like those Yokohamas please... I need 4 new tires also and would like to work the same great deal with Discount also.

The Yokahomas yk580 are really good tires, you can't go wrong with them. I haven't driven much on these tirese but they are noticeably smoother and quieter than my previous kumho tires. Unfortunately the rebate deal for $100 is over, the last day was 03/31/15.

Now if you need tires, they have the Pirelli
Cinturato P7 All Season Plus tires with a $60 rebate. I believe these are the BEST tires you can buy for your Ls. Those Pirelli's get rave reviews. After I bought my Yokahoma's, the next day I wanted to go back and exchange for the Pirelli P7s but decided not to, reason is I didn't want to spend no more money and I rather get the $100 rebate with the Yokahoma's instead of $60 with the Pirelli's.

Regarding the deal I got, I went in DT with the mindset of NOT buying the tire "certificates" to keep the total price below $600, but the rep kept insisting that I buy the certificates in case a tire gets damage. The certificates were an extra $72 and the original total out the door price was 660, but the rep reduced the price of each tire to bring the cost down from 660 to 630 certificates included.

Thanks for the info... I will look into the Pirellis for sure. Only bought the Michelin's before, but as I've got the car in the shop getting new timing belt, valve cover gaskets, strut rod bushings, engine mounts and alignment, was looking to cut some costs somewhere.

Your Ls will be good as New with all that work being done. Imo the only way to cut cost is to do some of the work yourself. I did my own motor mounts and strut rod bushings.

You just missed the Michelin rebate last month at DT. Buy any four Michelin tires you receive a $70 debit card.

I put on a new set of Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance tyres in stock size. They have received very good reviews, they are affordable, silent and on top of all they feel great!
