Key left in ignition = dead battery?
I've been storing my '98 LS at my parent's house since I moved to the city and hardly drive anymore. I left it for about 1.5 months inside the garage with the key in the ignition. The ignition was certainly off, however. I came to use the car today and the battery was stone cold dead. I know I didn't leave anything else on so my only conclusion is that the key being in the ignition did it. I've left the car for the same amount of time before but it was locked and they key was in the house. The battery is pretty much brand new as well. Is that likely what happened?

Some systems remain active when the ignition is off. How do you think your radio remembers the memory presets? The audio system remains partially active. You might try disconnecting the battery and putting a trickle charger on when you don't use the car for extended periods.

Thanks for the reply. I know static drain isn't the issue since I've left the car unused for longer than this last time without any issue at all. This time it was completely stone dead. I know some cars have certain systems that stay awake if the key is left in the ignition (GM likes to do this) but I wasn't sure if this was one of them. I guess it is.
