I just put one in a few months ago. See my profile pictures. I too thought of a stand alone gps with back up camera. But i got a used pioneer avic d-3. Bought a new pioneer back up camera to go with it. Installing it was ok put mine just above the plate between the two plate lights. Only thing of course is the objects look far away when they are not. So be aware of that. Hope this helps.

Does your Eclipse have a 4 pin male connector for a camera at the back panel?
If so, simply connect there a Toyota genuine back-up camera or equivalent which has a 4 pin female connector.

The 4 pin male connector is like this below. The photo is taken from mine but the model name is different from yours. So the arrangements / locations might be a bit different.

That looks good to me. The fun part is running the wires from rear to dash. I had to go right up the middle of course and took some short time to fish it under carpet to center console. Its a cool option but i find i don't look at it that much.

i was going to ask about the wiring job..how long did it take..u had to remove the console, back seats and the dash? did u drill a hole in the trunck lid then run the wire up on the lid or did u go down below by the spare tire or off to the side? as far as using it i have tinted windows and sometimes its tough to see backing up..i will also use it to see whats going on in the rear in traffic and on the freeway for police.

In that case, you need to connect the video signal of the camera to Pin 1 and the video ground to Pin 3.
Sorry for the low quality drawing attached below but I hope you can recognize pin numbers.

The DC voltage supplied from Pin 2 to camera is only 6V. The camera you mentioned requires 12V and I suggest you to obtain 12V from the back up bulb line in the trunk room.

Actually I use non Toyota genuine camera above which requires 12V and I obtain DC as I mentioned.

Well took me about am hour. Do have to remove rear seats. After mounting camera tapped into rear back up light wire. Zip tied wires to harness attached to trunk. Pulled off plastic cover trim on hinge tucked wires replaced trim. I went thru rubber grommet on left side. placed wires under padding to protect from seat springs. Had to fish them under carpet over center hump to console.

Since i was adding my xm antenna at same time that added to bundle.

Hope that helps.

Took a few pics of camera.

The purple wire is for power from stereo and other is feed from camera.

I didn't drill any holes.
