Default New member intro & questions

Hello to you all!

I live in Palm Beach County, Florida. and just purchased a 96 LS400 with 165k miles for $2500. The car has a vibration around 40-60 MPH. However, I already did some research on possible issues and got that problem covered. My seats are worn and faded and I really dont feel like spending $600 on new leather seat covers (I just got married and also have a 91 300ZX that is being build B4 the LS was purchased) Here is the real question:

Would 98-2000 ls400 seats fit my 96 ls400?

Thanks

The seat frames and rails are common from 95 - 00 and I believe the wire harness is common as well.

wire harnesses are not due to the way the memory worked and the side impact airbags in the seats.

rear seats are different but interchangeable. front seats will fit but you will need to do the wiring yourself, and disable or safety the airbags.

also, '97 model year cars have the side impact air bags in the front seats as well.

When you say that the back seats are "interchangeable" you mean that even thoug they have different leather designs they still fit? And for the front seats, is it even possible to match my 96 ls wires to the 98 ls wires by costumizing them? How would I disconnect the side airbags? Is there a wire diagram I can look at or has anybody done it here before? Thanks

the rear seats should interchange bcause the chassis are almost identical.

the front seats will require custom wiring, and no, i don't have wiring diagrams for you. you will need to source them yourself and see if it's feasible for you to approach.
