Default Brake rotor recommendations for a 1990 LS400?

I need to replace all four rotors and brake pads on my LS400 and searched for different types of rotors. Any advice on decent rotors with a decent price? And a website to purchase them from?

Brambo blanks are usually pretty standard for quality inexpensive rotors. IMO

i'm a big fan of Centric blank rotors, R1concepts sells them cheap, tirerack sells the brembo blanks.

Thanks guys. What brake pads do you guys reccomend on R1's website? I went with the blanks that they had since I'm on a budget.

Amazon has centric rotors for about $20 each.
Thats what I went with for my 95 ls400 and have been very satisfied.
and thats cheaper than getting your old rotors turned.

Default Brembo OE Replacement and OE Comparable discs

Careful everyone. Brembo OE Replacement and OE Comparable are two different grades (and the two are priced accordingly). Definitely buy the OE Replacement.

You should be able to see the two at www.lexpartsonline.com and www.tirerack.com

As to pads, many use Akebono. Here I am not sure which one to get. At www.tirerack.com they have two ceramic pads by Akebono, one is called Performance, the other called ProACT Ceramic.

The OEM pads are pretty cheap online. Should we use OEM pads or Akebono? I am not sure.

I have put about 20,000 miles on my $22 centric rotors from amazon.
They are still in great condition and have minimal rust.

This is the route I would take everytime. R1concepts are overpriced imo.

As far as pads, I have the Akebono ProACT ceramics.
They too have 20k miles and have plenty of meat left.

My brakes squeek ever so slightly the first time I come to a stop after the car sitting for a day or so.
This is my only complaint but I dont mind it. I have no Idea what causes this and have given up trying to fix it as it is barely audible inside the car.

If you have young kids, having squeaky brakes is a very nice safety feature! I love the racket mine make

i too can't source my squeaking brakes only when cold, and it's all greased, shimmed, and clipped properly. it's slightly annoying but i can live with it. i'm on all OEM parts pads and resurfaced rotors (came with the car when i bought it).

did the centric rotors have the provisions similar to the OEM rotors (i.e. treaded holes for easier removal, holes for the retaining screws)? i find autozone brand stuff lacks these small features that i find are helpful.

As far as the squeek, my best guess is that a invisible layer of rust forms on the rotors and this is scraped off when I first stop, making a squeek. It is worse in high humidity and cold conditions and both of those would accelerate rust formation.

I dont know what you mean by treaded holes but the centric rotors did come with holes for the retaining screws.
