My 1996 LS Alternator just died.
The reader said the voltage regulator failed, rebuilt alt, 144$, new VR 147$
so I bit the bullet and replaced the alt. because I have somewhere to go tomorrow..
now I am wondering to keep (core 77$) the old one and put a new VR in it.. ??
any thoughts??
edit- I found a new VR on ebay for 20$, that would make a working alternator for 97$ any takers?
I am going to return it saturday 5/5..

Core it. Unless you just want to fix it to get the experience of replacing the VR. It doesn't really seem cost effective tho, if the VR costs more than a rebuilt alt.
Have you taken the brushes out to see how worn they are?

I sold mine and bought the 96 because they are a very strong Lexus, and I could buy it and bank 4000$.... now you see what I like "more", $$$$$$$$ and I am still driving a Lexus..
