New post on an old topic (ECM)
Hello,
I recently purchased a 1995 LS400 with 88,000 miles. I have the low idle and stalling after prolonged driving problems. After much research, I concluded that my ECM was the problem. I sent my original ECM #89661-50221 to a rebuild/reprogram company, thinking that they would install the updated programing, with no change to the problem. Car still stalls after proplonged driving and still has a low idle after warm up. My next option is to purchase another ECM, # 89661-50224, as stated in the Lexus TSB, from another company and hope that it fixes the problem. Other than the described problems, the car runs perfectly. And yes, when I turn the A/C on, the problems are gone. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. The cost of the original rebuild was $200.00, the cost of the 89661-50224 rebuild is $511.00.
Thanks,
Matt

So I recieved the new ECM in the mail and the company sent me the old part number, 89661-50221. After much debate with them, they assure me that the hardware inside the ECM has been updated to match the 89661-50224. Has anybody ran into this problem? Are they telling the truth?

I spoke with company and I can return the ECM minus shipping and a bench testing fee, which totals $135.00. Maybe I will just try it and see if it works. What a pain!

I originally sent it to Auto Computer Solutions in Florida. This was a huge mistake! They sent me a diiferent ECM, not my original, and the car ran exactly the same as before. Then they would not refund or exchange, I am still fighting with them. I then found AES, and purchased another ECM. This one seems to be working fine. If I had to do it again, I will buy one from Auto Computer Exchange. I wish I had found them initially. Good Luck!
