Default key problems !!

I have a 92 lexus ls400 and ordered transponder keys from sale@keysfast.info but when the keys arrived they where not transponder keys but reg keys . When I questioned them about the keys on 2 different emails a person named Scott sayed that a 92 ls400 does not have a transponder key . Can anyone clear this up for me . Please go by the web site and look at the toyota and lexus transponder keys and let me know if that is the key with the button on the side that open the doors . It looks like the key to me but said it is not so . He said I would have to get a new unit and keys from the dealer .

transponder keys (for engine immobilizers) are only found in '97+ LS400s.

perhaps you mean REMOTE keys. ie-for the car alarm?

I have a 1991, im pretty sure its the same but there was no transponder chip inside mines. The key was cheap but cutting the key is another story.

Thanks for clearing that up for me . My drive side door lock is bad and I wanted a way to open the door without walking all the way around the car . Anyone have a cheaper idea than going to the dealer ?

What is the issue with the door? Door lock actuator, main switch...?

OEM 90-92 LS400 replacement keys with remote buttons come with a matching "chip" that must be inserted into a slot in the wireless system receiver in the trunk in order for the remote buttons to work. The attached image I snagged from Sewell's website shows the chip - I don't think the text in red applies since "programming" involves only inserting the new chip in the receiver slot.

When my remote keys and chip for my 90 LS400 were replaced under warranty in the early 90's, the mechanic apparently did not get the chip properly seated in the slot in the receiver. The key remotes worked fine most of the time in warm weather but did not work in cold weather. Shortly after I sold the car in 2003, its new owner figured out the problem, reseated the chip, and the remotes then worked all the time.

Ok, do the doors lock-unlock when using the remote?
When manually locking or unlocking the door from the passenger side, do all the doors lock and unlock?
Using the remote, does it give the audible/visual indication of locking and unlocking?

What I'm trying to get at is if the ECU is processing the remote transmission and doing same for the manual lock from the passenger side. If the driver side key cylinder does not respond to some light lubricate to free the cylinder, the obvious is to replace the cylinder. The electronic signal it carries to the ECU may also be an issue.

So let's first get that cylinder working then go to the next one.

the cost of getting remote keys and the chip you need will be more than the cost of taking the lock cylinder to a good (really good) locksmith and having them try to fix it or rekey another lock cylinder for you keys.
