Will there be an 18-inch option on the LS?

I don;t think so, no mention of it on any of the pricing guides, or on the Lexus website. I know the 17s are standard now.

I was told ES wheels would not fit on the ES because of the offset...

Overhere in germany there is a 7,5 18" oem wheel available. I think it has been on here almost a year ago.

That new wheel in the pic looks good, but you think if they went to the trouble to have a new wheel, they would make a better size than 17x7, at least 17x8 or 18x8 would work .

I put the '02 17x7 on my '94 and it looks good for now.

That is the one I meant. I just looked at my brochure. It is 7,5*18 for 245/45R18 tires. Price is 458,00 Euros. Part# PZ406-F0670-ZC.

Using the exchange rate in yesterday's WSJ, 1 Euro= .9844 US dollars. So, the wheels are $450.88 US each, if they're available here. There was another 18" optional wheel for non-US models of the LS and GS, someone on CL put them on his GS. They were a 5 spoke wheel (looked very similar to the 17" GS400 wheels), with a gunmetal finish.
