Default Back in the Lexus Game: 1995 LS400

Unfortunately, my return to Lexus came at the expense of having to return my 2000 Solara back to the dealership because they could not produce the title (long story). I left here a few years ago after selling me 1992 SC300. I ditched that for a 1976 Celica liftback.

So, I found an older guy who was buying a for sale sign for his 95 LS400 at the hardware store, so I asked him what he wanted for it.

I got the car for $2,800.

The outside is in very good shape, and the interior is darn near flawless. (Gray on Black leather)

It has 184,000 miles and is a one owner before me. It doesn't leak, which is nice.

It drives very nice, but smells like the original Polo cologne and cheap cigars.

I will post some pictures tomorrow, once the daylight comes around.

congrats on the new car and welcome back!

given that it's at 184k mi, it's due for a new timing belt+water pump. unlike the older LS, the '95 is an interference motor so if the belt snaps the motor is toast.

welcome back, good price for a 95, if you make it to summer, or have a garage, you can keep the windows down..

Oh and they claimed it has a newer timing belt and all that, so I'll have to pull the cover off and make sure.

I plan on adding HID low beams, custom intake, possibly an exhaust, and installing my Pioneer touch screen, sub/amp, and new speakers. Eventually an extra set of larger wheels, probably from a newer model Lexus.

Right now I just want to get the timing belt and alternator knocked out.

I already installed an Optima Red top for the winter. Battery started crapping out last night once it got colder so quickly.

Oh, I found the nice Flikr write up on how to do a timing belt on a 98 LS400.

How much is different between doing a timing belt on a 98 and on my 95? Could I still use that write up? It seems in depth and easy to follow.
