Default Help with 1996 Lexus Ls400

Hi guys Im from Australia.
I got a 1996 lexus which I just bought.

Great but annoying little problems which I read are common.
  1. Antenna which I can buy a new mast and replace. Can hear motor wind up and down but it does not move.
  2. Stick Speed needle which you whack the dash and it shows correct speed
  3. Half lit up revs needle
But the one annoying me the most is the Coolant temp needle. When it warms up it only goes just above the "c"

I have changed the sender unit and its the same.
I have disconnected the plug that connects to the sender and grounded it and the temp needle does shoot all the way up.
I dont what that proves though.

I have a feeling its the gauge itself?

If the temperature gauge moves up all the way with the sender wire earthed the gauge is OK so you either have a defective new sender ( unlikely if OEM replacement) or the gauge is actually accurate and your engine is running too cool. Check for airlocks in the coolant system.

The stuck speedo needle is normally excess oil on the spindle there is information on the web regarding this and how to cure.
The dark needle tips again can be sorted info is out there.
