the LS430 is the ULTIMATE cruiser... S500 cant compare with the absolute comfort of the LS, but the S is more engaging to drive and much more responsive... and I have to say the Benz looks alot nicer.

my friend has a Silver Brabus S580 on 19" Monoblock Vs... its one of the most godawfully beautiful, smooth, roomy, and fast cars I've ever seen

My very close friend has an S600 with 20"s Brabus with stagger set up.............Honestly............LS430 can't compare with that. It just look sooooooooooooo nice. You get what you pay for.

I realize that many people like to have big engine like V12, but where will you use all the power anyway. Some people say I have an S600 with V12 it has a top speed of 210mph (whatever I don't know the figure). Where are you going to drive at that speed, you cannot even hit 130mph and drive at that speed on the freeway for long in the US anywhere since speeding is again the law. Let along you cannot even hit 200+mph at the track with your MB S600 anywhere so why bother about the V12. That's why in Europe and many Asian countries have S280, S320, S430, and S600. In Thailand, you can get V6 2800cc S class with all the S600 option for less than half of the S600 price. It is good to have all the toy + a little power but who want to have a powerful for everyday car...just get a Ferrari or Porsche!!

Ok, if you want to talk *used* pricing, then, it's a different story. But as far as I can tell, the Silver Spur II isn't even produced anymore. Shall we start debating the wisdom of purchasing a W140 S-class vis a vis the LS430?

i don't think s600 owners would care about any of these stuff. if you can afford s600 then you can have more then one car. why not spend extra $$ and have best of everyting if you can afford it? if $$ isn't a issue then i would buy bentley for everyday driver and buy ferrari F50 or lambo for weekend fun. then again i just might buy new ls430 and put twin turbo chargers to say that i have one. who cares! it's all about the $$. if you can afford it then go for it.

p.s
now, don't say ls430 is more comfortable then bentley or faster then ferrari.

And dealer retail on the '96 S600 is $30k. The '96 Silver Spur II is still twice the price. Comparing it to a new S600 is ludicrous.
