Default whooo - tomorrow SC430 brakes

Still haven't finished RAAMmat install yet...

BUT tomorrow I'm heading up to have the brakes off the SC430 (I think GS also?) fitted on my LS..

The brakes on the 90-91's were crap so if everything works out, I'll be a lot happier. I guess I might need spacers because the caliper might not fit under the stock 15" wheel.

The tokicos are working great in the front.. I can fly around corners with minimal tire noise, but the backs still understeer and make too much noise. Time for those rear tokico's sometime soon...

And a dragon TC, and a turbo, and and and and and a 1993 with black/black. ;-(

Sherwin over at brake zone is giving me a price yet to be determined. Less than $500 though.

Yah, I figure I'll keep the car until I pay it off which will be around next year so I'll just do some mods to this and have some fun with it.

Yeah, this sounds very interesting and like something I would like to try if it works.

Well, I do not have the specs on the SC430 brakes BUT I would doubt that they will clear the 15" wheels even with spacers...

Regarding brake upgrades, consider the 95 up LS400. 12.4" front with 4 piston calipers (look identical to Supra TT brakes). The rears are 12.1 vented (unlike the solid disk on the GS400). These are great brakes and may be a bolt in. Either way, you will need larger wheels.

NOOOOO

(thanks to Sherwin @ brake zone, Steve @ carson, Angel @carson and the auto store that did the fitting!) ;-)

The SC430 brakes don't fit on the 90-91 LS's!

The caliper is the first problem. It's not too wide, but it's too long as if it was standing vertically. Part of it would need to be shaved off, almost an 1" worth of metal. Not too smart I'd guess. Also, the rotor would have to clear a bigger wheel. I'd have to upgrade to 16"s or better.

This sucks! My brakes are crap. Sherwin sold me some new good brake pads, as mine were completely worn and burnt. (Cmon Lexus what happened to those 1000 hours on the track testing- why didn't they improve the brakes??) The new pads helped a bit, car still takes forever to stop, but Sherwin suggested the cheap pads from NAPA actually created the damage on my cross drilled rotors. They have warped pretty quickly at around 10-15K miles.

Car still stops, that's all that matters I guess. Thanks again to those at the top. We tried!

Just get some 17's and slap on the Supra TT kit...why go through all this BS just to find out it doesn't work...you can buy some inexpensive 17's...check out OZ racing's site...they have a "clearance" section with some really good prices on wheels...

I guess I better start saving up for some TT brakes then.

Ok, thx for the info. So the only problem is the wheel clearance? I wonder it it would work with my 19's though!
