SC400 vs LS400 alternator??
Would an alternator from a 92 SC400 be a direct fit into a 90 LS400?
I am wondering because the SC400 has a 120 amp alternator, vs the 100 amp alternator that comes with the 90 LS400.
My current alternator is dead, and I am going to buy one tomorrow, I would like to have the piece of mind of 20 "free" amps if its a direct replacement, especially since my stereo obviously is pulling considerably more power than Lexus has intended in 1989.
Thanks.

Someone on here had recommended to someone else that if you really want a powerful alternator, to bring your old alternator to a "limo service shop" and they should be able to rebuild it to put out much more amps, if i remember right he had his rebuilt to 180 amps or something.
Good luck!

To answer my initial question (maybe you want to ad this to your original faq):
Will a 1992-1994 SC400 120A alternator be a direct replacement for a 1990-1992 LS400 100A alternator?
Yes, you can order a 1992-1994 SC400 120 A alternator from AutoZone for $135.99 vs the 1990-1992 LS400 100A alternator from AutoZone for $155.99. So, 20A extra, for $20 less. Win.

Yeah I paid $115 at AutoZone for my 120 amp (20 more than factory). If I had the money I would have likely bought one from More_Amps on eBay, I bought a 220A for my Civic last year and it worked great

Ls400 alternator interchangeable part
Does anybody know if an alternator from a 1995 SC400 will work in a 1999 ls400? I have seen that many of ebay auctions cross reference this item as an interchangeable part but nobody at the lexus dealerships can confirm this. I know that the alternators are the same as far as amps but that is it. From the pictures that I have seen on ebay they look identical and the schematics at sewell lexus show the bolts lining up differently. What I mean by differently is that the 1999 bolts line up vertically and the 1995 SC400 bolt on at lets say a 45 degree (just a guess). Your thoughts?
